Contribute to the investigations of the migratory route
Jaumave.- With the purpose of contributing to the investigations to know the migratory route of the monarch butterfly and what are its parameters in its journey to the 11 sanctuaries of the country, for the second time Tamaulipas made the labeling of this species in the ejido Magdaleno Aguilar , before federal, state, municipal authorities and inhabitants of the Tamaulipas highlands.
The process consists of placing a tiny label on one of the wings with very light self-adhesive traces so as not to damage it or affect the flight.
With the support of the State Government, Tamaulipas became a national pioneer in the labeling of the monarch butterfly last year.
Now, in the framework of the celebration of the 5º Festival of the Monarch Butterfly, he represented the Governor Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca the Secretary of Urban Development and Environment in the State, Gilberto Estrella Hernández, who ratified endorsed the commitment to contribute in the studies of this migratory phenomenon.
This to support this species in its journey of 4 one thousand kilometers 500 from the mountains of Canada and the United States to the sanctuaries located in the different states of the country, crossing through Tamaulipas territory having the opportunity to feed and rest in the ejidos where there are gardens pollinators.
The head of SEDUMA was accompanied by Mayor José Luis Gallardo Flores, and the president of DIF, Zeilde Cordova Valenzuela, and a large group of people in the labeling in the Magdaleno Aguilar ejido.
In the morning before hundreds of children who participated in the traditional costume contest to raise awareness about the protection of the butterfly, the Secretary of Urban Development, Gilberto Estrella Hernández, chaired with his counterpart of the Ministry of Tourism of the State Government, María Isabel Gómez Castro, and civil and military authorities, the 5º Festival of the Monarch Butterfly on the Plaza Principal square of the municipality of Jaumave.
In his message to hundreds of people who packed the Main Square of Jaumave, with the representation of Governor Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca, the head of SEDUMA inaugurated the 5º Monarch Butterfly Festival, calling it a "great event that reflects the work of society and government". He thanked the 3 government orders (federal, state and municipal) for their support, to the local authorities for continuing to promote the traditional costume contest to contribute to the care and protection of this species by sowing that seed in our children to raise awareness about the importance of caring for the monarch butterfly and the ecosystems.
