Universal Vaccination


The 24 of January of 1991 was installed in Tamaulipas, the State Council of Vaccination (COEVA), with the purpose of promoting the active participation of the institutions of the public, social and private sector to strengthen the actions of the program.

In 1993, the National Health Weeks were started, in which, in addition to vaccination, a package of health services was offered, including the delivery of "Life serum oral" envelopes, megadais administration of vitamin A and single doses of intestinal antiparasitic drugs, Information was also given to those responsible for children under 5 years of age about the prevention and home treatment of diarrheal diseases and the pneumococcal vaccine polysaccharide of 23 serotypes was included in the elderly.

Mission

Protect the population of the state with immunogens, with priority in children under 9 years, through the application of regulated biologics in the basic vaccination scheme of the country, to achieve protective community coverage, with registration in national vaccination cards of each group of population and in nominal censuses in each medical unit that allows follow-up. Create awareness in the population of the advantages and benefits of vaccination and provide them with information so that they participate actively and opportunely in their self-protection.

Vision

To have a Tamaulipas free of diseases preventable by vaccination, with polio eradicated, measles and diphtheria eliminated, maintain control and advance in the elimination of tetanus, whooping cough, rubella, congenital rubella, mumps, hepatitis B, invasive diseases of Haemophilus influenzae type b, influenza, pneumococcal pneumonia, rotavirus infection, and decrease the incidence of cervical cancer with the vaccine against human papillomavirus.

  • Permanent phase in which vaccinations are applied every day of the year.
  • National Health Weeks in which vaccines are applied simultaneously, in the short term, through intensive and massive actions to initiate or complete the vaccination scheme, throughout the entity. Three National Health Weeks are held during the year. The first in the month of February, the second in the month of May and the third in the month of October.
