Francisco Javier García Cabeza de Vaca He is originally from Reynosa, Tamaulipas. Married and father of 3 daughters of the same age.

He studied a degree in Business Administration and Marketing at Houston Baptist University; in the City of Houston Texas and with this training, he focused on the management of family and personal businesses.

His political career begins in 1999, when he joins the National Action Party (PAN), a political institute in which 17 has been a militant.

In 2000, García Cabeza de Vaca takes the decision to run as a Federal Deputy for District II, with a seat in Reynosa, and after winning the election, becomes the first opposition legislator in that electoral district (2000-2003).

Four years later, and after successfully completing his assignment in the Congress of the Union, he participates in the local elections for the Municipal President of Reynosa (2005-2007), winning the contest and reaching at that time a historic vote for that post of election, registered in the city.

From 2008 to 2010 he was a local Deputy, and later he was invited by the former President of Mexico, Felipe Calderón, to join his extended cabinet and appointed as General Director of the Commission for the Regularization of Land Tenure (CORETT) ( 2011).

For the federal elections of 2012, Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca He was elected Senator of the Republic for the 2012-2018 period, also with a historic vote and with a wide advantage over his competitors. He won in 7 of the 8 federal electoral districts of Tamaulipas and obtained little more than 532 thousand votes and almost 10 percentage points above the opponent of the PRI, a former governor of Tamaulipas.

In the Senate of the Republic he presided over the National Defense Commission and the Agrarian Reform Commission; He was Secretary of the Navy Commission and member of the Energy and Communications and Transportation Commissions.

In the Senate of the Republic, he submitted an application for a license to leave the position for an indefinite period starting with the 29 in January of 2016 to seek the candidacy of the PAN for the governorship of Tamaulipas.
