Mtro. Fernando Olivera Rocha
The head of the Tourism Secretariat of the state of Tamaulipas did his university studies in Tourism, at the Anahuac University, Mexico; has a Master's Degree in International Marketing and Business Management from the Instituto de Empresa of Madrid, Spain; candidate for doctor by the World Tourism Organization and the Antonio de Nebrija University of Madrid, Spain.
He has held functions in the Government of the State of Guanajuato as Secretary of Tourism, in the Mexican Federal Government as General Director of FONATUR Operadora (National Fund for Tourism Promotion), in the Ministry of Tourism as General Director of Development of Tourism Culture, General Director of Development of Tourist Products, ending as Undersecretary of Tourism Operation, collaborating in the creation of the National Agreement for Tourism, fundamental axis for the new tourism policy of Mexico.
His professional experience has been enriched by performing diplomatic duties as Director of Tourism of Mexico in Spain and Portugal of the Tourism Promotion Council of Mexico.
He has chaired various associations in Mexico and Spain; such as the Association of Foreign Tourism Offices in Spain and the Visit USA Committee, was also Vice President of AMAV (Mexican Association of Travel Agencies). He was recently president of the Association of Secretaries of Tourism of Mexico AC
He has professional experience in the tourist services, hospitality and restaurant sectors in transnational chains such as Howard Johnson, Days Inn, Tony Roma's and RCI International.
