Dr. Antonio Garza de Yta

Antonio Garza de Yta is a Chemical Engineer graduated from Tecnológico de Monterrey generation 1992-97 and Master in Aquaculture Sciences from the University of Auburn; There he also obtained the title of Doctor of Aquaculture at this same University in the United States.

Within his professional career Garza de Yta has held various relevant positions among which the International Extension and Training Department at the University of Auburn, where he generated various development and research tools such as certification for aquaculture professionals (CAP for his acronym in English). He was also Technical Advisor of INAPESCA. He developed the Master in Aquaculture for the Technological University of Tamaulipas Bicentenario, of which he was Rector.

He also served as Director of Planning, Programming and Evaluation of CONAPESCA from 2014 to 2016 where he assumed various tasks within the scope of this council focused on Design, Development and Strategies for the achievement of fundamental objectives. He was also an FAO Consultant on the subject from 2008 to 2017, where he developed Master Aquaculture Plans for the States of Campeche and Puebla and designed the Diploma in Aquaculture and Fisheries in Georgetown, Guyana.

Antonio Garza de Yta has made various Publications, Articles and Manuals for the Industry in the field, such as the one made for the Garza Company of Yta & Medina regarding the production of Australian lobster among others.

He founded the Global Initiative for Life and Leaderships through Seafood (GILLS), and is elected President of the World Aquaculture Society (WAS); Executive Director of Aquaculture Without Frontiers Latin America, among other relevant affiliations.
