There are five international airports, located in the main cities of the state, which also contribute greatly to national and international commercial distribution.

Tamaulipas has two International Ports, that of Tampico and Altamira, according to the Ministry of Communications and Transportation, in the 2016 reflected a movement of 24.7 million tons, of which, the 93% was import and export, and the 7% of cabotage movements.

Of the total amount, in the Port of Altamira moved 17.7 million tons, this represents the 72% of the movement made in the two ports, this gives the first national place in movement of fluids and the fourth in containerized cargo. On the other hand, from January to May this year, had a commercial movement of 8.09 million tons, compared to the same period of time in the previous year, there was a movement of 7.4 million tons, which reflects a growth of 8.4%.

In the Port of Tampico, in the period from January to May of this year it was of 3.14 million tons, and in comparison with the same period of time in the 2016, there has been a growth of the 16.5%, with a movement of 2.69 million of tons.

The state has logistic services in its 42 industrial parks (private 37 and public 5).

The development of specialized industrial parks strengthens the logistical infrastructure for the establishment of industrial groupings of the electric-electronic branches in Reynosa, information technologies in Victoria, petrochemicals in Altamira, automotive and auto parts in Matamoros and logistic development for foreign trade in Nuevo Laredo.
