Statement from the Government of Tamaulipas.

TAM-034-2021

16 2021 February

Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas.- Given the cuts in the supply of electricity, caused by imbalances between load and generation in different areas of the country, which are expected to continue in the following days, the industrial sector in Tamaulipas has been seen drastically affected by the various rotating and random load outages carried out by the National Center for Energy Control (CENACE).

In Tamaulipas, the National Council of the Manufacturing and Export Industry (Index), which includes companies in the automotive, aerospace, and medical sectors, among others, has reported power outages for more than 15 hours, which it affects its production chains and processes, which has generated uncertainty in its more than 219 thousand workers from the more than 300 companies installed in the region.

In addition to the fact that intermittent outages represent a risk for equipment when suffering abrupt blackouts, which causes distrust of companies due to the lack of certainty in their operations.

Therefore, the Government of the State of Tamaulipas makes a call to CENACE in order to guarantee the supply of electricity to strategic areas, such as the industrial sector, through a schedule of cuts in the electricity supply, with the purpose of providing certainty to Tamaulipas companies allowing them to make better operational decisions.

Likewise, these same measures will help all other sectors but above all citizens to take preventive measures in order to take care of their health and avoid unnecessary risks in the face of this icy wave that affects our state.
