Tamaulipas government urges alcoholic beverage establishments to close to prevent COVID-19

Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas.- The Government of the State of Tamaulipas, through the Ministry of Finance, issued an appeal to the owners of bars, canteens, breweries, discos, nightclubs, among others of the same line, to collaborate with the authorities and keep their businesses closed, as long as the competent authority considers their opening opportune.

The measure is derived from the epidemiological contingency caused by COVID-19 in Mexico and Tamaulipas, as a result of which the State Government has issued various alerts related to preventive actions to contain the spread of the viral disease.

Also because the Ministry of Health has focused its prevention and containment actions on the need for social distancing, seeking with this indication to make the owners of the mentioned establishments jointly responsible for the health of Tamaulipas.

The Secretariat of Finance of the Government of the State of Tamaulipas reported that these measures are based on the provisions of article 20 of the Regulatory Law for Establishments of Alcoholic Beverages.

"The Secretariat will indicate the days in which, in the establishments referred to in this law, alcoholic beverages may not be disposed of or consumed," the law states.
