Governor delivers the Municipal Tampico Market.

Its construction required an investment close to 332 million pesos and thanks to its characteristics, style, space and design, as one of the most modern, attractive and functional in Mexico and Latin America.

Tampico, Tamaulipas.- The governor, Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca, inaugurated the Municipal Market of Tampico, a space that in addition to being destined for trade, is positioned as a tourist destination in the region and is considered, for its characteristics, style, space and design, as one of the most modern, attractive and functional Mexico and Latin America.

The president was accompanied by his wife, Mariana Gómez de García Cabeza de Vaca; the mayor Jesús Nader Nasrallah; Senator Ismael García Cabeza de Vaca; local deputies and authorities of the 3 government orders.

The ceremony was framed by the presence of hundreds of tenants from the old markets, who will soon be relocated to the new infrastructure; businessmen and thousands of Tampique families who gathered to witness the historic event that takes decades of commercial, tourism and progress in the region.

“Tampico is part of the history of Tamaulipas and Mexico. How not to presume that it was here in 1901 when the first oil concession was given throughout Mexico. That it was in Tampico where the first commercial flight of Mexico was made. And how not to presume that it was here in Tampico, the city where the first cola was bottled outside the United States. ”

“And now how not to show off to Mexico and the world that Tampico is going to have the most beautiful municipal market in the whole country. What a pride to be part of this new story that we are building together, ”the president added.

The Municipal Market of Tampico is located on the surface occupied by the old Juárez and Hidalgo markets, which for many years functioned as icons of commerce, tourism and gastronomy in the region.

Its construction required an investment close to 332 million pesos; It consists of 2 plants that add an area of ​​13 thousand square meters in which about 700 commercial and gastronomic premises are distributed.

To complete the work, paving and improvement of the perimeter streets to the market are carried out, as well as the renovation of the “Daughters of Tampico” Square, adjacent to the Maritime Customs.

After making the inaugural ribbon cutting and the unveiling of the building's official plaque, the Governor and his wife, in the company of guests and authorities, toured the facilities of the Municipal Market, where regional music presentations were made, gastronomic show and an exhibition on the history of the old Juarez and Hidalgo markets.
